What are diamond tips used for with tattoo machines?
(im an apprentice in a shop, my boss is just on vacation.)
i finaliy have the money and time to work on my professional set-up. i am looking into getting tubes, although im not quite sure what the diamond tips are for. i have a feeling they are for round shaders, but apperantly i have never actually notcied. any input on this nieve question would be much appreciated...eli
The diamond tip tube tips are mostly for lining, as colorist said. It keeps the smaller needle grouping from moving around because it'll have less play in it.
A round needle in a round hole will move around unless it's snug. A diamond tip is v shaped at the bottom where the needle would rest and it gets held down by the rubberbands better without having to be so snug. It also creates a gap above the needle, allowing better ink flow. If the liner is too snug in there the ink won't flow as easily. I'm not saying you can't use round tips for lining, many people do. Diamond tips just allow for more control of needle movement and better ink flow.
