--[copyright questions]--?
On appeal, the defense compared distributing file-sharing software to selling copy machines, arguing that the courts would not hold Xerox Corporation liable simply because people frequently use its machines to make infringing copies of copyrighted material. Should different rules apply to providers of file-sharing software than to makers of copy machines or videocassette recorders, both of which can be used to infringe on copyrights? Why or why not?
Yes. I think the law should be consistent. It is by the way. Some file sharing providers have gotten in trouble because of the way they advertised and made money, not because of the capabilities of their product.
