Perfect skin vs. Tattoos?
I don't mean which is right or wrong; I like both. I like the look of art on a body, but I also like the look of perfect, smooth skin. How do you feel?
MissD - It's interesting that you see people as "hiding" behind excess fat or tattoos, when many people feel comfortable with their bodies and/or the artwork on them. Not to mention, fat isn't something stuck on a skinny person. It's part of one's body, just like skin.
PJ - Isn't it interesting how children have different laws and interests as their minds develop, and must be supervised by their parents until they grow into adults? And then adults are able to make life-changing decisions, like having children themselves? Putting children and adults on the same mental level is a mistake, isn't it?
Regardless, this is a question related to purely aesthetics.
I am a female tattoo artist, and have a lot of tattoos places on my body. I have two full sleeves, a large back piece, and tattoos on my thighs. I do not mess with my neck, my face, butt, or breasts, those areas I think are intimate and should remain untouched.
I am an artist first, and my tattoos have a creative, artistic look to them, and they really represent who I am. My husband has a few tattoos, not nearly as many as I do, and loves the way mine look on me. I think when they are tasteful and well done, they can look good on anyone.
The great thing about skin, is once the tattoos heals, unless you were scarred by a bad artist, the skin feels the same when touched. I of course, prefer to be tattooed, I too look at older pictures of myself before being tattooed, and wonder who I was back then. I am a very liberal person, and think to each their own. I do not judge people for not having tattoos, and think others should not judge those of us who do. I enjoy seeing attractive people who are tattooed, just as much as I enjoy attractive people who aren't.
I am very highly educated, with a Master's Degree in Art History. My husband is a teacher, and many of his coworkers, including administration, have visible tattoos. They are all highly educated too, they just like the decoration. I do agree that some people see tattoos and automatically think "trashy."
Hopefully, that will change.
