using a tattoo machine with no ink to make scar tattoo?
just wondering if this method is better or just about the same level as burning or cutting onto the skin,
This is known as etching, and something I specialize in.
I can use a tattoo machine and achieve the same results as cutting/skin removal and similar results to branding through different techniques. Different depths result in the scar having different looks, you can even kind of "shade" the scar in a way.
It is a much better alternative to people who are afraid to have cutting/skin removal or branding done.
The level of detail than can be achieved is much higher than with branding, and a little higher than with cutting/skin removal.
When it comes to healing, any scarification piece (except branding) you want to keep irritated. You can do this by doing salt scrubs, scrubbing it with a soft bristled tooth brush a few times a day, using alcohol to keep it dried out, and picking the scabs off. If a scarification piece heals too quickly, they usually heal too well and have to be redone to achieve the level of scarring desired. Wounds heal best when moist, so you want to avoid keeping a scarification piece moist as they will heal with minimal scarring.
Be sure to let a professional artist do this. As with any modification do it yourself jobs rarely turn out well, especially if the person has no knowledge of skin composition.
